Properties: specific gravity: 0.917, stable in dry air, and to hydrolyze and cause combustion in wet air. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ether, tetrahydrofuran, etc. It can deoxidize aldehyde ketone, acid, acid anhydride, ester, quinone and acyl chloride into alcohol, deoxidize nitrile into primary amine, halogenated hydrocarbon into hydrocarbon. However, it usually can't deoxidize carbon-carbon double bond.
Uses: used as reductant in pharmaceutical, perfume, pesticide, dye and other fine organic synthesis. |
